Welcome Stunt Fans: Expect the Unexpected!

loufireweb.jpg

Welcome to the official blog of “Hell Drivers,” the documentary!

If you haven’t already, I invite you all to please comment on the trailers on this blog — and, if you are so inspired, to jumpstart the scintillating conversation on YouTube.

“Hell Drivers” will be coming to a film festival near you in the immediate future. We will post screenings on a calendar as soon as we learn which festivals embrace us.

In the meantime, this “Hell Drivers” blog will track the most fascinating stories about stunts and daredevils from the world of motorsports and beyond.

We’ll soon be including “Don’t Try This at Home” updates (see the Categories column at right) which will analyze the wisdom of wannabes who have watched one too many episodes of “Jackass.”

And, of course, we’ll be tracking the impressive feats of professional stuntmen who push themselves to the limits of human survival.

We’re basically open to the needs and requests of the stunt-loving community. Get ready for stuntman reviews of stunt movies, behind the scenes stories about injuries and maybe even tips on how to change a Monster Truck tire.

Expect the unexpected.

  1. The good people at AWARD Productions put so much time and effort into this documentary. They really went out of their way to make a real, true to life film on what it’s like to travel and perform in a thrill show. It was fun working with them and they made it easy to let your guard down and be natural. I don’t think people understand how much time and effort go into a thrill show even before we get on the track and risk our lives. I know they did their homework and got into the history of thrill shows and traveled a great deal to interview past and present performers. Being a thrill show historian I’m proud to be part of this film and couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of guys to record and tell our story. Very much looking forward to seeing the film.

  2. WHEN I GOT A CALL IN THE SPRING OF 2006 FROM SOME GUY FROM OUT BOSTON WAY THAT WANTED TO FLY TO IOWA TO LOOK AT MY THRILL SHOW COLLECTION AND GATHER INFORMATION ON THRILL SHOWS FOR A DOCUMENTARY. I THOUGHT IT WAS SOME JOKER AND WAS ABOUT TO HANG UP.

WELL FOLKS, THEY WERE REAL AS RAIN AND SURE ENOUGH FLEW INTO IOWA TWICE. I NEVER THOUGHT OTHER PEOPLE HAD THE INTEREST IN THRILL SHOWS AS I, UNTIL I MET THE FELLOWS FROM AWARD PRODUCTIONS AND THEIR FILM PROJECT. WE HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE THRILL MUSEUM GATHERING DATA AND EMAILING AND MAILING THRILL SHOW INFORMATION BACK AND FORTH.

I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY THE FILM AS MUCH AS I DID WORKING WITH THE CREW FROM AWARD PRODUCTIONS.

  3. Great premise for a movie!

Back in the day, before NASCAR was mainstream, Demolition Derbies and thrill shows seemed to be everywhere. Strange they’ve gone the way of the drive-in movie.

I know some of the production guys and they’re a class act. My favorite quote from the trailer:
“I was married once; I’m not scared of nothin’!”

  4. Great stunt! Can’t wait to see the movie
